Relationship-focused matchmaking for Jewish singles across the Pacific Northwest and Western region
Our Service Area
Ahava Northwest is a regional Jewish matchmaking service based in Portland, Oregon, serving the Pacific Northwest and greater Western region.
Our primary service hubs include:
Portland, Oregon
Seattle, Washington
The Bay Area of Northern California
Vancouver, British Columbia
These hubs represent the areas where we have the strongest community connections and the highest concentration of active members.
Extended Service Area
In addition to our primary hubs, we work with Jewish singles throughout the broader Northwest and Western region, including:
Idaho
Western Montana
Northern Utah
Northern Nevada
Alberta, Canada
Alaska
We also consider individuals in adjacent areas bordering these regions, particularly when there is openness to travel or relocation within the greater Northwest.
Add your details to our matchmaking database at no cost. This allows us to learn more about you and consider you for future matches as our community grows.
Joining the database does not obligate you to anything, and there is no charge to be included.
Step 1: Join our free database
Step 2: Meet With a Matchmaker
Before anyone is actively matched, we meet with every prospective member for a one-on-one intake call.
This conversation helps us:
Get to know you as a whole person
Ask and answer more sensitive questions
Understand your relationship goals and preferences
Confirm that members are real people and not bots or spam accounts
Discuss location, travel, and relocation considerations
This step is required before any matches are proposed.
Step 3: Choose Community Support Level
Ahava Northwest is a small, growing matchmaking service that we currently operate largely as a community mitzvah. To help sustain the service, we offer optional sliding-scale monthly community support memberships.
Please choose the level that feels sustainable for you:
$18 per month — standard community support
$10 per month — partial-rate community support
$5 per month — reduced-rate community support
Memberships are month-to-month and may be started, stopped, or changed at any time.
You may also choose to contribute a one-time or custom support amount at any time.
All free and paid membership levels receive the same matchmaking consideration.
Your Questions, Answered
-
Our community matchmaking service includes:
A one-on-one intake interview
Inclusion in our matchmaking database
Ongoing consideration for potential matches as our community grows
Thoughtfully selected introductions when we identify a promising match
A private introduction through Signal when interest is mutual
Follow-up and feedback support through the first few dates
One round of email support about why we believe a proposed match may be a good fit
Our matchmaking is community-based rather than an individualized or concierge search. We continually grow our network and look for compatibility across our membership, but we do not guarantee a match or conduct a dedicated search on behalf of any individual member.
There is no required fee to participate. Community support payments are optional and help us sustain and grow the matchmaking service.

Getting started is simple. You can apply for matchmaking and join our database for free by filling out the form above.
Before anyone is activated for matching, we meet with each prospective member one-on-one. This helps us get to know you, ask more detailed questions, and ensure that everyone in our community is a real person.
After your introductory call, you can decide whether and when you’d like to join one of our optional monthly community support memberships.
-
We are actively growing our database, and new members join each week.
If we already have someone in mind who may be a good fit for you, we’ll let you know during your introductory call. If not, we’ll continue to consider you as new members join.
Matching timelines vary based on preferences, availability, and who is currently in the database. For some people, matches may come quickly; for others, it may take longer. As a growing startup, we want to be transparent that timelines can vary.

We believe in “big tent” Judaism where if you are Jewish by heritage, ethnicity, or religious practice we welcome you. This includes patrilineal Jews, converts, and cultural Jews.
We primarily specialize in matching those whose Judaism falls outside of stricter Torah-Observant frameworks. However if you are of this background or this is what you are seeking in a partner, we will still happily have you as a member and can also refer you to a matchmaker who specializes in this area of Jewish matchmaking. -
Yes! We have members who are part of the LGBTQ+ community and we are looking for more members in these demographics to match.
-
Our primary service area includes Oregon, Washington, Northern California, and British Columbia.
We also work with people who live west of these regions or who are open to relocation or travel within the broader West. Location and logistics are discussed during the intake call and considered carefully for every match.
-
No. While our strongest presence is in Portland, Seattle, the Bay Area, and Vancouver, we also work with Jewish singles across the broader Northwest and Western region.
Location and logistics are discussed during the intake call and considered carefully for every introduction.
-
No.
We specifically want Ahava Northwest to be a nonpartisan organization that serves all Jews in our service area looking for a potential match. We want to match people whose lifestyles and values align.
We ask questions in our intake session around Zionism and political beliefs as well as lifestyle questions not to judge but to ensure we only send well-aligned potential matches. -
No. You do not need to be specifically seeking marriage to participate in Ahava Northwest.
We do ask that members be genuinely interested in building meaningful romantic relationships and be able to communicate what they are looking for. That might include marriage, a long-term partnership, a committed relationship without marriage, or being open to seeing where a compatible connection develops.
What matters most is that your relationship goals are compatible with the people we introduce you to. We take those goals into account when considering potential matches and will not knowingly match people whose stated expectations are fundamentally incompatible.
-
Yes. Ahava Northwest welcomes people seeking consensually non-monogamous relationships, including polyamorous relationships, as well as people who are open to either monogamy or non-monogamy.
Relationship structure is an important part of compatibility, and we only consider matches where each person's stated relationship preferences are compatible. We will never knowingly match someone seeking monogamy with someone seeking non-monogamy in the hope that either person will change their mind.
Our pool of members seeking non-monogamous relationships may be smaller in some regions or demographics, so we cannot guarantee how frequently compatible matches will be available.
-
No. We don’t guarantee a specific number of matches or dates.
We prioritize quality over quantity and focus on making intentional introductions rather than rushing or setting minimums.
-
Traditional matchmaking often involves expensive contracts and fixed commitments. We intentionally do things differently.
You can apply and remain in our database for free. We offer optional sliding-scale monthly community support memberships for those who want to support the ongoing work of matchmaking and community growth.
Membership is not tied to guaranteed matches or dates. Instead, it helps sustain the service so that we can continue recruiting new members, reviewing profiles, and making thoughtful introductions over time.
You are always free to start, stop, or change your membership based on what feels right for you or contribute a one-time amount.

Ahava Northwest is a small startup that we currently run largely as a mitzvah and community service.
Monthly support helps cover basic operating costs, including:
Website hosting and scheduling tools
Administrative and bookkeeping software
Outreach and community-building efforts
Paying our employee who supports marketing and operations
Your support allows us to continue offering matchmaking and to grow the database so we can make better, more frequent matches over time.
-
When we identify a potential match, we first share basic details and at least one photo with each person. If you’re both interested, we’ll introduce you through Signal, a private, encrypted messaging app available on both mobile and desktop.
From there, you’ll communicate directly and make plans for your date together. You do not need to exchange personal phone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information to get started.
Because our matchmaking goes beyond what appears on a profile, you may also request one round of email support if you have questions about why we think the match could be a good fit. Our recommendations often take into account what we learned during your intake conversation, not just basic profile information.
We’ll check in after your first date and continue following the match through the first few dates. If you decide not to continue, we’ll close out the match. If things are going well after three dates, we’ll step back and let you take it from there.
-
We don’t want finances to be a barrier to finding connection.
That’s why we offer optional sliding-scale community support levels at $5, $10, and $18 or a one-time custom amount. All levels receive the same access and consideration.
We also intentionally choose affordable first date locations and don’t expect anyone to spend more than about $10 on a beverage or treat. First dates are meant to be casual, comfortable, and low-pressure.
