2026 Hanukkah Streams to Watch
Cozy Jewish Holiday Watches for Long Winter Nights
Winter in the Pacific Northwest is dark, damp, and often relentless. While Christmas movies dominate December streaming menus, there is thankfully a growing collection of Hanukkah and Jewish holiday films that offer something different. These movies lean into warmth, tradition, romance, and just enough holiday schmaltz to make a cold evening indoors feel intentional.
Hallmark has been releasing one Hanukkah-focused movie per year since 2020. In recent years, those films centered fully Jewish characters and Hanukkah itself. This year’s new release, Oy to the World!, shifts back toward a blended Christmas and Hanukkah storyline, focusing on two rival choir directors navigating shared rehearsal space and competing traditions.
While it is genuinely nice to see interfaith stories represented, it is hard not to feel a bit conflicted. When the broader holiday movie landscape produces dozens of Christmas-only films each year, one Hanukkah-centered release feels like a very low bar. Still, Oy to the World! has earned a spot on this year’s watch list, and it premieres on the first night of Chanukah. Alongside it, there are now enough past releases to build a full and cozy Hanukkah movie lineup.
Below are my personal rankings of the Hanukkah-focused films, followed by the Christmukkah and interfaith mash-ups included in this year’s tracker.
Hanukkah Holiday Movies Ranked
#1 Hanukkah on Rye (2022)
Two rival Jewish deli owners, a bit of matchmaking, a family mystery, and an abundance of classic Jewish food make this an easy favorite. It is warm, genuinely charming, and hits the sweet spot between holiday magic and emotional grounding. This is the one I rewatch without hesitation.
#2 Round and Round (2023)
A Hanukkah twist on the Groundhog Day concept, with each night reset by a spin of the dreidel. The premise feels fresh, the writing is imaginative, and Jewish values are woven thoughtfully into the story rather than explained away.
#3 Hanukkah on the Rocks (2024)
This film plays with the familiar “high-powered professional meets small-town charm” trope. A lawyer unexpectedly finds herself bartending over Hanukkah, leading to personal transformation and community connection. It is a solid and satisfying addition to the lineup.
#4 Love, Lights, Hanukkah (2020)
A distant fourth place. While it can be a cute introduction to the holiday for newcomers, it often feels like Hanukkah explained for a Christian audience rather than a film made with Jewish viewers in mind.
#5 Eight Gifts of Hanukkah (2021)
Entirely Hanukkah-focused and very sweet, but ultimately forgettable. The vibes are there, but the plot and performances fade quickly once the credits roll.
Christmukkah and Interfaith Holiday Movies
These films blend Christmas and Hanukkah themes and may resonate most with interfaith households or viewers looking for lighter holiday fare.
Oy to the World! (2026)
Leah’s Perfect Gift (2024)
Double Holiday (2019)
Mistletoe and Menorahs (2019)
Hitched for the Holidays (2012)
Whether you are looking for something deeply Jewish, lightly romantic, or simply comforting during the longest nights of the year, there are now enough Hanukkah-adjacent options to build a tradition of your own. Light a candle, pour something warm, and enjoy the glow a little longer.
